United Way of Campbell County Fund Drive is ON
Gillette (United Way) -- United Way of Campbell County has begun its annual fall fund drive, and the organization is anticipating its most exciting campaign yet.
The mission of UWCC is to promote philanthropy and enable local people to help local people; a mission that the Board members and staff of UWCC take very seriously.
After meeting the 2008 goal of $400,000, an all-time fundraising high for the community, the board recognized the growing needs of the UWCC's 14 member agency's clients and increased the 2009 goal to $450,000, a 12.5% increase.
The United Way Board is confident that this generous and privileged community can come together to raise the money needed to meet the 2009 goal and the needs of people in our community.
The 2009 fundraising season will 'kick-off' with an event to be held September 4th called the UWCC Day of Caring Goods-Drive. People in the community can participate by donating peanut butter, work jackets and diapers to the drive.
These items are very much needed by those folks in our community who have fallen on hard times, but are rarely donated. United Way invites the entire community to give in whatever manner is possible for each individual person - and an event such as this allows people to do just that.
A person can bring in a jar of peanut butter, a package of diapers, a work jacket, or all three items and make a financial contribution as well.
Local businesses and organizations are already lining up to help with the kick-off event. The City of Gillette (City Hall), Campbell County (County Courthouse), Campbell County Memorial Hospital (main lobby of the hospital), Campbell County School District (Educational Services Center building), and the FCA (Farmer's Co-op Association) Country Store on Highway 59 have all offered to be drop-off locations for the donated items.
Additionally, Powder River Energy Corporation will be sponsoring a two-hour live remote broadcast on 106.1fm KOAL Radio the day of the event.
The FCA Country Store will offer a hooded/insulated Duck Coat from KEY for $25 each, if the coat is donated to the goods drive.
GPA television, the City of Gillette and the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce are also participating by assisting with the advertising of the event.
To support United Way of Campbell County, participate in the kickoff event, make a financial donation, encourage your employer to initiate a workplace giving campaign that would enable employees to give through pay-roll deduction.or all of the above. Just $2 a pay period ($52) can offset the cost of one night of shelter for a family who has lost their home to a fire. Just $5 a pay period (U$130) can provide 75 meals for hungry people who eat at the Soup Kitchen.
